About the artwork

"Skin" is a garment made with the technique of knitting a net. Net-knitting is a technique integral to human life since ancient times and is made from a single thread with a series of knots. This simple technique of tying, which is made by human hands without using tools, forms the very origins of the history of textiles. This work makes use of a knot tied in a spiral from a single thread. Due to the elasticity of the net it covers the body like a delicate skin. By arranging the knots of a general net, the space created by the threads was changed from a rhombus to a scale — a shape devised to cover the body beautifully. Made from Tasser silk, the color and texture of the material itself is used as is, without daring to refine it. Each hand-knitted garment is one-of-a-kind, and since it is formed from threads, no material goes to waste. This net garment has a structure that will not fray. Even if it is torn and can be mended and repaired.
