About the exhibitor
Yozo Oyama founded Nihon Rikagaku Industry, the first Japanese company to produce white regular chalks, over 85 years ago. Now into its fourth generation with President Takahisa Oyama, the company has two factories: its primary facility and corporate headquarters in Kawasaki and a secondary plant in Hokkaido. They have a strong presence in the domestic market producing chalk, chalk-related accessories and their flagship product, Kitpas.
As they continued their product development, they explored ideas for an innovative material that works on surfaces like papers, glasses, mirrors and whiteboards. In 2005, they introduced their buttery-smooth, multi-surface, vibrant, water-soluble Kitpas Art Crayons, which are also exceptional in quality and non-toxic. They soon became the favourite choice of crayons for children and their parents, winning Japan’s prestigious “Stationery of the Year Award” in 2009. Today, Kitpas has evolved into Japan‘s leading manufacturer of innovative, ecofriendly art materials.
