About the exhibitor
Laku Terai focused on the more traditional fields of Japanese woodworking wheel technology and the beauty of lacquerware. After learning the basic techniques of woodworking and furniture-making using planes, he began to focus on creating truly impactful work.
After graduating from a two-year basic course at the Ishikawa PrefecturalInstitute of Grinding and Riding in Yamanaka Onsen in 2021, traditional teaware and lacquering are offered in a specialized course to learn full-scale lacquering and wood-grinding techniques.
Terai subconsciously expresses his childhood memories in his artwork, while living in a conservative traditional crafts wood-grinding village. Through each carefully crafted piece, we hope to share the joy and enrich the connection between our lives and the forest.
About the products
While enjoying and exploring the familiar forest that surrounds our workshop, we create original cup and plate designs from the trees and lacquer that the forest in Ishikawa prefecture and surroundings provide.
