ACOYA PEARL JEWELLERY, JAPANESE CONFECTIONARY, HAND BLOWN GLASS
About the exhibitor
Tokyo-based Chitose Ohchi takes on a variety of roles for C& including storytelling, design, and production. Ohchi believes the prototype of creation is 'thoughts and wishes' for loved ones and that her unique 'ideas' occur through a theme of 'beautiful stories between nature and people'. In that spirit, MONO JAPAN is proud to present two brands designed and produced by C&.: ‘acoya' and 'To the Sea'.
About the products
Acoya Pearl Jewelry
Acoya pearl jewelry, made of Akoya pearls from the Koto Sea ( Omura Bay in Nagasaki), has a 1300-year history of Akoya Pearls. Acoya respects the beauty of pearls’ natural individuality and is never artificially colored.
Japanese Confectionary
Various Japanese confectionary are made by Hirado Kumaya, a Japanese confectionary shop with a 260-year-old -history on Hirado Island. Seaweeds from Takashima Island, in Hirado and Acoya Pearl oysters from the Koto Sea are used. These confectionaries and glasses were both designed by Dutch Japanese creators and are tangible stories of the sea that can be touched and tasted.
Glass Objects
Hand blown glasses especially designed for the sweets were made by Ayato Takeda of Rurian Inc. in Nagasaki City.
