About the exhibitor
Watabun is one of the most renowned weavers in the Nishijin textile district in Kyoto. Using the technology cultivated in the weaving of Nishijin obi fabric, Watabun creates products that suit modern lifestyles. Since its start in 1906, Watabun holds dear and continues to apply traditional techniques to provide beautiful hand-woven fabrics commensurate with the traditions of Kyoto.
About the products
Watabun will participate with its lifestyle goods using Nishijin brocade, including textile products made of Kibiso. Kibiso is the first thred that the silkworm spits out to make a cocoon. Kibiso has been discarded until now because it is short and uneven. In recent years, we have discovered that sericin, which is abundantly contained in kibiso, has properties that are beneficial to the skin, and have created a bath product.
