CERANIS

About the exhibitor

CERANIS is a project to collect regional varieties of ceramics in Japan, which differ in the type of clay, glaze and decoration. This condensed collection reflects the country’s diverse natural resources, culture and techniques. CERANIS hopes that, by showing this range, people can appreciate the beauty of Japanese ceramics, whose rich heritage dates back to prehistoric Jomon culture. They also hope that people will become intrigued by each variety and the region from which they hail.

About the products

CERANIS will be exhibiting a range of sake cups that they commissioned from several innovative ceramicists. The cups are stackable, so that they can look just as beautiful when stored as when in use.
Until now, it’s been a challenge to display the full array of pottery Ceranic has collected all at once. At MONO JAPAN, for the first time, they’ll show the whole range, so that visitors can enjoy the subtle differences between the textures, regional colours and techniques used.
